Overview

Experience Genuine Charm at the Bowery House: A 3-Star Boutique Hostel

Situated in the heart of New York City, the Bowery House stands out as a choice destination for travelers eager to explore the bustling streets of Manhattan. This New York City hotel blends historical 1940s architectural charm with modern amenities, offering guests a unique lodging experience. Key features include access to a highly regarded NYC restaurant, cozy common areas with vintage decor, and the convenience of being close to several subway stations.

Unique Living Spaces Designed with History in Mind

The Bowery House has tailored its accommodation to reflect the storied past of 1940s New York, specifically aiming to mimic the layout that once housed soldiers returning from WWII. Guests can choose from Twin Cabins featuring a single twin bed, often complemented by natural light through windows. The interiors boast narrow dark brown hallways leading to individually keyed doors, ensuring privacy and security.

Culinary Delights at Pearl & Ash at Bowery House

Dining at this New York City hostel is elevated by the presence of Pearl & Ash, a highly regarded restaurant located on the hotel's bottom level. Though the establishment's small plates, extensive wine list, and signature cocktails might seem a splurge, guests are encouraged to indulge in this culinary experience. The proximity provides an easy and sophisticated dining option without the need to venture far.

Around-the-Clock Services and Amenities

Guests at Bowery House Hotel are treated to a range of services designed to enhance their stay. Safety is a priority, with fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and first aid kits readily available. The lobby, also dubbed the Living Room, offers a peaceful retreat with comfy leather sofas, ideal for reading or enjoying a beer before heading out. Additionally, a "Bodega" is conveniently located for those in need of snacks, toiletries, or a quick drink.

Entertainment and Relaxation Spaces at The Bowery House

The hotel's communal areas are thoughtfully designed with guest relaxation in mind. The Living Room features atmospheric low lighting, funky Italian plastic furniture, and an inviting bar setup for socializing on busier nights. Entertainment options are diverse, from the cool lounge music that minimizes the need for a TV to the magazine rack filled with designer glossies.

Prime Location for Exploring and Transport

Bowery House's location & transportation options are unrivaled. Just 0.2 km from Bowery and 3.8 km from Grand Central, the hostel is an ideal base for both sightseeing and navigating New York City's extensive subway network. Nearby attractions include the New Museum, Bowery Ballroom, South Street Seaport, and Sunset Park, offering guests an endless list of activities and sights.

The staff, particularly the manager, were incredibly helpful and took great pride in the hotel. The communal areas had a welcoming atmosphere and were well maintained. The bathroom facilities were clean and spacious. The hotel had a private arrangement with a hostel feel, and they even looked after my bags after check out. The 24hr reception was a great convenience. The location was fantastic, close to the best pubs, clubs, shops, and cafes in Bowery.

Felt well taken care of, no reason to complain.

I had an enjoyable stay at The Bowery. The rooftop garden and living room created a great atmosphere. The staff was friendly and efficient during check-in and check-out. The Wi-Fi reception was excellent, and I appreciated being able to buy soda and other items from the lobby. Despite some noise issues, the natural light pouring into the open top space was a unique touch. I would recommend this hotel for a budget-friendly stay.

The staff was excellent, the place felt secure, and quite decent cleanliness. (No bugs or pests)

It was shared bathroom, and I knew this, this was not an issue at all..but I found the bathroom really cold, not enough place for people to put their clothes in a non dirty place, and slippery floor that got dirty fast. I just found it hard to get dressed without dirtying something..especially my feet. For an improvement, I'd love for the bathroom to have some heat, and to install some little area where you can properly change.

The hotel is situated in a convenient location, close to three subway stations with connections to various metro lines. This makes it easy to explore the city's attractions. Additionally, the hotel is in the heart of the Bowery, with a vibrant atmosphere and plenty of options for dining and entertainment nearby.

Some guests have mentioned that the rooms can be noisy due to thin walls or loud occupants.

It's quite clean. The location is about 3 or block from the subway..

shower in the bathroom is not convenience, no breakfast, it's in the third floor without elevator or escalator.

It is much different to other hostels as it has the design and look of a much smarter place. It also offers the chance to have a private room for a bargain price - even though they are very small rooms!! But who wants to sit in a bedroom all day in nyc anyway!!

Perhaps that the bathrooms were not very big, but it certainly didn't spoil the experience. Perhaps if each cabin/room had a mirror mounted on the wall?

Great location close to popular attractions and easy access to transportation. The staff was friendly and provided helpful recommendations. The building had a charming and modern style.

The room I stayed in was on the same floor as the men's dormitory, and the noise from multiple snoring men made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Additionally, there were concerns about bed bugs, which I experienced during my stay.

The price was reasonable for staying in Manhattan

The cabin is awfully small and my bedroom linen wasn't clean. On saturday somebody decided to throw a party at the garden upstairs, which made the hotel extremely loud and impossible to sleep. There were actually people having sex in the bathroom and others speaking very loudly at the corridors. Talk about an awful night

The staff was very helpful during my stay. The original cabin with a window was a good room to stay in. The location is really nice. There are a lot of cool restaurants and botiques closeby

The single rooms are ridiculously small, im 5'3" and it was tight. There were no true ceilings and u could hear your neighbor. A bit annoying. If youre not goingbto staybin the hotel much and are flexible about space, it should be fine. Dont bring too much luggage, it wont fit in the room!
